Find Accommodation near 'The Shropshire Regimental Museum '

Shropshire Regimental Museum which holds the collections of four Shropshire regiments is housed within Shrewsbury Castle. The castle dates back almost a thousand years to the turbulent times when the Normans were endeavouring to secure the border between England and Wales.

This is a heritage site and whilst every effort has been made to improve access for all visitors, a small percentage of the exhibits such as those housed up in the gallery in the main hall are not wheelchair accessible.

Access to the main hall, part of the ground floor and the accessible toilet is via portable ramps. Manual wheelchair users will require the assistance of an able pusher to access the inclined path up to the main hall entrance.

The dedicated and knowledgable staff are very willing to answer questions and explain in further detail any exhibits visitors are particularly interested in. Tours for visitors with visual impairment can also be arranged with prior notice.

In summer months there is a programme of open air plays performed on the green in front of the museum entrance and a designated area is set aside for wheelchair users. These are part of the Shrewsbury Summer Season for details of times and dates please check out the website.
