Find Accommodation near 'Red Ridge - Outdoor Activity Centre'

Red Ridge is located within the beautiful hill country of Mid-Wales and has been offering accessible activities to people of all ages and abilities since 1978. It is a founder member of Adventure for All, a group of outdoor centres dedicated to enabling persons of all abilities to participate in outdoor pursuits. Their central location means they are easily accessible to guests from most parts of England and Wales.

Much of their work is with Special Schools, College Special Needs Groups and Voluntary Groups but they also uniquely offer extremely popular special breaks for individuals with disabilities, who wish to enjoy an adventure holiday, in the company of like minded people but who need an element of specialist supervision in order to do so. These take place at Easter (one week)and during the summer (two weeks) each year.

The ethos of Red Ridge is to encourage the belief that all of us have a much greater potential than we would believe, and through their activities they seek to emphasise the positives and minimise the negatives.

There are a wide range of activities on offer at the centre including canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing, indoor caving and much much more. Each activity is tailored to individual ability and there are a range of activities on offer for everyone who goes.

As well as the activities, Red Ridge offers strong social interaction with an opportunity to make and renew friendships and the camaraderie and bon homie amongst visitors was very evident for our research team to see on the days they visited.

A large number of additions and improvements are currently being carried out on site and this serves to reinforce the positivity of the centre.

Comments

I enjoy the challenge of rock climbing. For someone with cerebral palsy like me who can only use one arm, it's a hard thing to do but if the climb is there to do, I want to do it and I rise up like a phoenix.
Each year I meet my friends here and I enjoy coming and getting better and trying harder things.
