Disabled Access Day 2017! image 1

As you are all probably aware here at DHI we like to show our support for Disabled Access Day! The organisers (a group of disabled people and family and friends in Scotland, including the Euan’s Guide team who are the lead sponsors) are busy planning the 2017 event. The next one is going to span a whole weekend rather than just one day enabling more people, organisations, charities and businesses to get involved, as well as enabling people to visit multiple venues during the event.

Full Story

The idea behind the event is to encourage people with a disability to get out and about and experience something they’ve never done before by visiting a new venue whether that is a cinema, coffee shop, sports centre or anywhere else...

It really is that simple if you have a disability take along family and friends and visit one new place that you've never been to before anywhere and everywhere! You can choose somewhere local or venture further afield. Why not take a look at our attraction, trail or activity search pages for inspiration.

The 2017 event will take place on the 10th, 11th & 12th of March, organisations are being encouraged to make special offers on the day, to enable individuals and/or local access groups to see for themselves what is available and appropriate to their lifestyle. For a list of the organisations taking part please visit the event organisers website - www.disabledaccessday.com

So, having read this if you'd like to do even more the event team would be delighted! It is a huge undertaking and they need all the help they can get. Their website has some hints and tips for people, charities, venues and other organisations about how to join in with the day. If you would like to get involved visit the website or email takepart@disabledaccessday.com
